These hand-hewn mesquite fenceposts once marked the entry to the family ranch, as portrayed in this watercolor. Later this became the entry to Los Nopales estate.
Nopales means cactus, and in particular the prickly pear. Nourishing nopal are prepared from the young pads of the cactus and are delicious in salads.
